It has been five years since we last added to this blog and, not surprisingly rather a lot has happened, Elspeth is 9 years old now and still loving life and talking ten to the dozen.
The Snapdragon was retired after years of invaluable service, and Elspeth has been driving a powered wheelchair from Baldertech for nearly two years now, funded with further generous donations from family and some charitable contributions.
Despite the limiting interference of the pandemic, hospitalisations with chest infections, and in July 2022, surgery to treat her scoliosis, Elspeth has continued to have lots of adventures near and far - including dozens of trips to Belgium, and more recently Oxford, to participate in a disease modifying treatment trial; outings to watch her favourite goalkeeper and the rest of MUWFC play their way to the top of the league; a visit to Edinburgh to see Will receive his FRCS; a dozen theatre trips including the very memorable Totoro at the Barbican, and our first family holiday abroad, a blissful sunny week in Lanzarote.
Elspeth is particularly interested in learning about the world around her, she has a long list of the countries she wants to travel to one day, and loves to visit a new restaurant, museum, garden, city, whenever there is the chance. When she can't get out and about she reads and reads, her favourite series is M. G. Leonard's Adventures on Trains series, which may be the inspiration behind her wish to be a travel writer.
And so, to make a start, Elspeth has asked to take over the authorship of the Elspeth's Wheels blog for now, so she can tell you about her adventures, in her own words.
